this is my take of the situation in Kenya in 2023, and 2024, and perhaps for the foreseeable future: the political elite have become exactly the same calibre of people the country went to war to kick out in the 50s. A prediction of Bakunin coming to pass—a few thousands are living at the expense of millions.
The country has been here before. The political elite did not listen then, and we know what followed. The british settlers never thought to make any concessions, only seeking to amass more power and grab the entire country.
The current political elite believe themselves to be the new setller class, the few thousands against the many.
It unfortunately will go the same way it went. Raila has pacified the public for twenty years. The political elite (including Raila) have no card left to play.
